CCSA is governed by a seven-member volunteer board that is elected by CCSA members for a two-year term. CCSA’s day-to-day work is carried out by the secretariat. In most circumstances, the secretariat is the first point of contact for members seeking information and support. The secretariat is led by the chief executive officer who is supported by three full-time and two part-time project officers, a part-time bookkeeper, and a part-time administration officer.

CCSA is incorporated as an association. Its Rules of Incorporation state that membership is made up of ordinary, associate and life members. The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is usually held in June.
